Day 1. Meaning behind my Tumblr name
HTharpe- probably isnt the most origional thing you’ve ever heard of considering it’s my first initial and my last name, but it’s meaningful to me. Meaningful because my family’s last name is Tharpe. The Tharpe’s have been in the U.S. since 16th century. Tharpe is the Old Norse word for village. The Tharpe’s moved from England to Ireland to escape from the protestant rule in England. Once Ireland began to be ransacked our family migrated to the America’s and settled on the East coast in Charleston South Carolina. I’m proud to be a Tharpe and will probably keep my last name or have a hip hyphenated name if i ever decide to get married.
